Seminole County Public Library now provides high-speed wireless Internet access at all five branch locations.  All you need is a laptop computer or other device with a wireless network interface card (NIC).  Wireless access uses the Wi-Fi standard IEEE 802.11 a, b, or g.  New laptops often come with a built-in wireless NIC and will be configured to pick up the signal automatically.  If your laptop does not have a wireless network interface card, you will need to purchase a compatible card and follow the manufacturer's instructions to install it on your laptop.  Wireless card setting are below.

SSID or Network Name = Seminole County Library

WEP or Encryption = None or Disabled

Mode or Network Type = Infrastructure or Access Point

Authentication = Open or None

TCP/IP Settings = Use DHCP or Obtain an IP address automatically

DNS Settings = Obtain DNS server address automatically

Turn wireless On.

How do I access the Seminole County Wireless Connection?

Your wireless interface will typically connect automatically to the service in its native configuration.  If this does not occur automatically, you may need to enable the wireless interface and DHCP.

No, the connection is an open network. It is not secure, and Seminole County cannot guarantee the safety of your information on the wireless network. The County assumes no responsibility for the configurations, security, or files on your laptop resulting from connection to the Seminole County Library wireless connection.
